Supporting A Creative Force: Susan Namm Spencer ’61 and Leslie Coplin ’87, P ’20
As a child Leslie Coplin ’87, P ’20 remembers traveling to Boston from New York with her mother to visit Emerson. Her mother, Susan Hammel Namm Spencer ’61 was passionately involved with the Alumni Office, and would often return to Emerson for events and reunions. “I had visited Emerson a number of times. It was my special time with my mother,” said Coplin. “It certainly formed an impression on me.” When it came time to apply to schools, Emerson was her only choice.

Empowering a Creative Force - Charles Rosen '68
The thought of moving to Boston to attend Emerson was exciting to Saco, Maine native, Charles Rosen ’68. Charles had a passion for the arts and communication, and Emerson seemed like the perfect fit. He remembers intense speech classes, a critical part of the Emerson curriculum. “Coming from Maine, I had a heavy New England accent,” he said. “The speech classes were incredibly detailed. The professors would work with your voice to make you speak ‘general American.’”

Alumni Comedy Series “American Vandal” Wins Peabody Award
American Vandal, the Netflix mockumentary series created by Emerson alumni Tony Yacenda ’09 and Dan Perrault ’09, won a Peabody Award in the Entertainment category, while being hailed as a “surprisingly insightful rumination on contemporary life."

As the new Co-Vice President of the Alumni Association, Nanci Isaacs will have the opportunity to connect with even more Emersonians over the next year. It’s something she’s looking forward to because volunteering and giving back to the College has brought her great joy for many years.
